“ELCA Malaria Campaign – Make Malaria History”

Thank You!!!

Wow! and good news! Peace Lutheran Church – our church—has raised and received in donations nearly $2,600 for the effort of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to eradicate malaria, especially in Africa.  Our check has been sent forward; because of your caring and concern more vaccine, mosquito nets, and water treatment supplies will be provided to those in need; because of you educational   programs about malaria will reach more persons

The happy story of our congregation's involvement in this global project began when a member of the Ever-Blessed Quilters noticed in Gather, the magazine of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA), that quilters at an ELCA congregation were conducting a raffle for a lovely quilt to raise funds for the ELCA malaria-eradication project. Why not us?  why not Peace?, thought that quilter.  And, so, the proverbial ball got rolling:  approval and support was given by Pastor Rose.  Our quilters enlisted the help of Peace WELCA members to help with the fund-raising; the Men's Breakfast Group at Peace offered their financial support.  A brave and enthusiastic quilter-WELCA member             informed worshippers at a Sunday service late in the fall about the  campaign, the need for the funds, and that contributions were sought.  Bulletin board displays were prepared; inserts were put in the Sunday         bulletins; a special offering was taken; and the quilt raffle was held.  Some individuals sent their checks              directly to the ELCA for the project; all checks intended for this effort reached the intended  destination.  If you missed out on contributing to the malaria-eradication campaign, checks may be sent to ELCA Malaria Campaign, P.O. Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764.

Thank you very much; God bless you.

And thank you to Thrivent, one of our contributors.
